Aspirations
will never cease to exist in the heart of man – as long as the man lives.
The
dream we will be talking about, in this article, is not the one that you usually
have when you are asleep, because when you are asleep, there is tendency for
you to have an ‘illusion’ of what you experienced before that sleep. Hence, our
focus will be on ‘man’s aspirations’.
There
are several definitions of aspiration, but for the sake of the point which we
are trying to make – let us use this one by WordWeb Dictionary that says, “Aspiration is a will to succeed”.
According
to Jerry Savelle, “Every time you
read the vision that God has put in
your heart, it enables you to run with it. It keeps you focused. It motivates you.
It propels you forward”. [1]
A dream is the force
that can catapult one into success
Even
the Bible supports putting the best
into whatever one does, “Whatever your
hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the grave, where you are
going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom”.
Eccl 9:10, NIV.
Consider
the fact that without aspirations in ones’ heart, there will not be the enthusiasm
to go further (to succeed) despite the challenges of live that abound, and a
dream can only be achieved when on is still alive. This is why the scripture
admonishes that one should put efforts into anything s/he does for success to
happen when s/he still lives.
However,
there are times when one should turn away from certain dreams.
When, why and how
should one turn away from a dream?
Although,
you are the only person who really knows what you are seeing: until you achieve
what you claim to see – people will continually tag you ‘a dreamer’.
At
a time in your life when you try (over and over) to achieve something but all
efforts prove abortive: you will need to turn away from that particular thing.
This is not encouraging you to abandon your dreams, but you need to abandon
that particular thing that you have tried (over time).
Why
you will need to abandon that particular thing is because there are more methods
to doing anything (in this world). When Thomas
Edison would reply a question to his failures over attempting to refine the
light bulb he said, “I have not failed. I have just found 9, 999 ways that do not work”.
Then,
this is how you should turn away from pursuing a dream that is wasting your
energies and resources.
Change!
From Google Search
You
should not be like a mad person who does the same thing (over and over) without
result and without changing tactics. “The Only Thing That Is Constant Is
Change”, said Heraclitus.
Therefore,
you need to change your strategy over the dream that proves all efforts
abortive. You need to think outside the box; you need to rub minds with people
that can give you advice that will cause you to shine forth; and you need to
work with God.
“Seek his will in all
you do, and he will direct your paths. Don't be impressed with your own wisdom.
Instead, fear the LORD and turn your back on evil. Then you will gain renewed
health and vitality.”
Prov 3:6-8, NLT.
We
want to see you taking steps over the dreams that had sapped your strength and
resources: let your potentials shine forth by taking the right decisions on
your dreams henceforth.
Regards.
